Morons

I rarely eat “fast” food and try to make it policy to not eat “food” that comes in a paper bag. Today was an exception.

The past several weeks have been very busy with work (I save the world, one computer at a time) and today was no different. Having not eaten in almost 8 hours and only enough time to scarf something down within minutes, I stopped at the nearest choke-n-puke in site; the Golden Arches Cafe.

My order was simple: coke, fries, and a burger. I paid the latino at the first window and proceeded to the second.

Let’s recap: coke, fries, and a burger.

The latino at the second window handed over the goods and I was off.

After gnawing down the fries, I started to work on the burger. It wasn’t until I was half through with it that I realized it was a chicken sandwich instead of a burger. Oh well, not a big deal. I ate the thing anyway.

I then saw something that made my day.

The receipt listed a coke, fries, and a burger. The bag contained a coke, fries, and a chicken sandwich.

The receipt was attached to the bag with a sticker that read “double-checked for accuracy”.

Easter Egg

While watching Star Trek (2009), I noticed something odd. After rewinding, pausing, and then stepping forward one frame at a time, I noticed this:

R2-D2 in the debris above Vulcan. I love easter eggs.

**Note** Apparently I’m behind the times. This was revealed over a year ago. I always was a bit slow at picking things up….

Over the river and through the woods

While going to the mailbox today, I had to drive around a group of kids standing in the middle of the street. Since it rained all night, the streets were wet and I splashed water all over some of the youngsters in the crowd. One of them, an early-teen hispanic girl, seemed to be throwing a bubbling fit over what had just happened. I chuckled, checked the mail, then went on my way.

I couldn’t help myself.

I drove around the block and back onto the same street the kids were standing. Waving happily, I drove right through the puddle and soaked that girl.

It’s supposed to rain on Saturday. I hope I get lots of mail.

iPhone repair

The glass and digitizer arrived in the mail. Oh, happy day.

After prying the glass and lcd from the iPhone body, I noticed something that didn’t please me. I had cracked the lcd sometime in the process. After running to the nearest cellphone repair shop and paying entirely too much for a replacement lcd, I returned to the repair job and all went smoothly.

In all, I spent just over four and a half hours repairing my phone. I do not want to ever go through this again. It probably would have been worth it to pay a repair shop upwards of $200 to fix it for me.

A Christmas Gift

I was on my way home from delivering computers yesterday and decided to drop by Toys-R-Us. On the way in, I heard my name called from behind me and there stood Lori M., owner of a local business. It was great seeing her again as I’ve not seen her or her husband for a few years. Tom, hope your surgery goes well.

Before leaving, I noticed someone that look familiar. It was none other than fellow Mudbaby and good friend, Kenneth. He was doing some toy shopping for the kids, the oldest now eleven. Are they really getting that old?

I left the store feeling that I’d just been given a true gift. It sure was good seeing them both again.
