Sedgwick County Zoo (Wichita)

This was one of my favorite “micro trips” of the summer. I’ve not been to Kansas since 1982 and even then we were only passing through on our way to and from Wyoming. I enjoyed it so much, I may make this a routine getaway destination.

Borders Books Building Gets Gutted

Borders getting gutted
It warms my heart to see this Borders Books finally being gutted. I worked there 20 years ago and it was the most miserable, tedious, mind-numbing job I’ve ever had. I think highly of only a handful of people that worked there; the rest were a waste of good air.

Bass Pro in Springfield, MO

I haven’t been back to my home state in many years. This visit was well worth the trip. (I went again the following Saturday because I was so tired on this trip, I’d completely skipped the entire wildlife exhibit portion of the museum.)
