Because the trashcan is nearly four feet away, I put the empty can under the kitchen table intending on throwing it out. One year later, this is what was found when I finally got around to it. Three more cans from the previous year were found after this photo was taken.

Always, always, always examine food labels. I bought this turkey, got it home, then realized the best-by date was for January 2020, not 2021. It would’ve been fine but for a $60 turkey, I don’t want last year’s reruns. The store happily accepted the return and I ordered a fresh turkey from another grocery chain.

Makin’ Bacon

For the first time ever, I cured then smoked a pork belly and made my own bacon. Curing took ten days and then hickory-smoked for two hours. It was the most delicious bacon I’ve ever eaten.
